Overview of Kenya
Kenya has an unspoilt coastline dotted with secluded beaches and chic seaside resorts.
The Madaraka Express between Nairobi and Mombasa covers a 500 km journey in around 4.5 hours and passes through Tsavo National Park.
On this thrilling train ride, you will likely spot elephants, zebras, and antelopes.
Book early for a window seat and enjoy views of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro as the train chugs from city to countryside to coast.
Hell’s Gate National Park
Hiking, camping, cycling—there is plenty to do at Hell’s Gate National Park.
Take a guided tour of the gorges inside the park, pedal past herds of zebras or camp under a starry sky.
The park’s incredible landscapes guarantee stunning views and pictures.
Beaches
Relax and recharge at Kenya’s charming coastal towns like Lamu, Mombasa, and Watamu. Diani Beach, 30 km from Mombasa, is arguably Africa’s most gorgeous beach, known for its white sands, crystal-clear waters, and snorkelling and surfing opportunities.
Beyond the beaches, Africa’s coastal towns have a unique cultural vibe. Stroll around Lamu’s Old Town, sail on a traditional dhow in Mombasa, and try cuisine inspired by Arabs, Portuguese, and Indians.
Amboseli National Park
Set against the backdrop of mighty Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park provides the best opportunities to view large herds of giant tuskers up close.
The park’s marshy swamps are also home to an incredible variety of birds, whose numbers increase during the rainy season.
Tsavo National Park
The allure of Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks lies as much in its residents, the famous red-dusted elephants, maneless lions, and uncommon antelope species like hirola, as in its raw, harsh landscape.
A safari in this wondrous park is one of our favourite things to do in Kenya. There’s an incredible variety of wildlife beyond the Big 5.
Tsavo West National Park is more popular than its eastern counterpart, but the experiences in both are equally memorable.
Lake Nakuru
Undoubtedly, Lake Nakuru’s star attractions are the vast flocks of pink flamingos that feed on the lake’s algae.
Lake Nakuru is also home to white rhinos and tree-climbing lions, making this Rift Valley lake one of the best places to visit in Kenya.
For spectacular vistas of the lake, head to Baboon Cliff. If you visit after the rains, you will experience Makalia Falls in its full glory.
Community reserves and conservancies
In the shadow of snow-capped Mt. Kenya, visit a lesser-known Africa. In community reserves in Laikipia or the Mara, you can gain an immersive experience of the African wilderness combined with various activities.
Bushwalks, night game drives, horse or camel treks, sleeping under the stars—your options are many.
Kenya’s community-run conservancies are managed by the Maasai and Samburu, who also act as your local guides and offer some of the best ways to experience the African bush.
Hot-air ballooning
Climb into a colourful hot-air balloon at sunrise and glide over the sprawling wilderness of the Masai Mara.
Flying over herds of wildebeest, giraffes, and gazelles is one of the top things to do in Kenya.
Hot-air balloon flights present a unique perspective on the wonders of this habitat and the creatures that inhabit it.
