Frequently Asked Questions
What currency should I use in the Seychelles?
The official currency of the Seychelles is the Seychellois rupee. Cash machines are in abundance here, however not all machines accept foreign cards, and your bank may charge international usage feesin addition to withdrawal fees. It is suggested you convert your cash prior to arrival to ensure optimum exchange rates. US dollars are also accepted in a number of hotels, bars and restaurants, however we recommend that you enquire with vendors as to what they would prefer to be paid in.
What language is spoken in Sri Lanka?
There are two officially recognised languages across Sri Lanka, those being Tamil and Sinhala. English is the language of commerce and is widely used in education. Arriving prepared with a Tamil and Sinhala phrasebook will aid communication with the locals where English is not as easily understood, and locals will appreciate your willingness to learn their language.
When is the best time to visit the Seychelles?
The Seychelles enjoys a year-round tropical climate with an average daily temperature of around 29°C. You’ll enjoy the warmest weather from March through until May, though you can expect milder, less humid conditions between October and November.
