Morocco: Marrakech, Agafay Desert, High Atlas Mountains and Atlantic Coast Guided Tour

Your experience of Morocco begins at the imperial city of Marrakech. Walk around the beautiful Koutoubia Mosque, which dates back to the 12th century, while your expert guide tells you about its origins and history. Admire the Italian marble of the Saadian Tombs and architecture of the 19th century El Bahia Palace. Wrap up your exploration of Marrakesh with a walk around the bustling souks that lie in the heart of the old city.

You will also get to delve into Moroccan culture through a private cooking class under the tutelage of an expert chef, and a private perfume workshop with a veteran perfumer.

Head out in the morning to the mighty High Atlas mountains to meet the Berbers, an ethnic group indigenous to North Africa. Enjoy stunning views of the landscape as you hike through Berber villages that dot the region. Step into a Berber home for a meal and learn about their customs and way of life.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can go on a scenic trek up to a mountain pass in the area of Toubkal, the highest peak of the Atlas range. Savour the view as you make your way up, with small villages, sloping terraces, fruit orchards and juniper forests along your route.

After hiking around the mountains, it is now time to head for the scenic sands of the Agafay desert. Go for a leisurely sunset ride on a dromedary camel and savour the view of the rocky desert and snow-capped Atlas range. Your expert guide will entertain you with local folklore as you make your way over the dunes. End your day with a dinner consisting of traditional Berber dishes, which you can enjoy under the stars.

You will be driven from Agafay Desert to the village of Oualidia in a private vehicle. While in Oualidia, you can visit the city of El Jadida, whose Portuguese name is Mazagan.

Mazagan was one of the earliest Portuguese settlements in West Africa, and you will be able to observe European as well as Moroccan influences in its architecture. Walk along defensive ramparts that date back to the 16th century, and see Gothic structures such as the cistern and the Church of Assumption. You can also visit the historic lighthouse of Sidi Bouafi and enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline. The colourful markets of Sidi Bouzid are worth checking out before you wrap up your day.
