Expert Tips

“Try to visit Victoria Falls during March and April as the water is in full flow with the spray reaching a height that be seen for miles. Hwange National Park is huge (roughly the size of Wales) and so the type of animal you see will depend on where you are. To spot Africa’s wild dogs, head to the hillier north-west near Camp Hwange. To spot cheetahs, giraffes, buffaloes and prides of lions stalking elephants, stick in the centre, near Main Camp. Knowing which animals you would love to see will help you plan your visit to this richly diverse national park. ”

“I loved my helicopter ride over Victoria Falls. And then sipping champagne at the Victoria Falls River Lodge in my hot tub while watching the mighty Zambezi River – they’re all experiences I will forever treasure. I would also recommend exploring Zimbabwe’s craft markets, which are known for their stone sculptures and West African fabrics. Buying a souvenir from one of these markets is the perfect keepsake.”

“For the fit, take the little known climb down the gorge to river level, for an extraordinary view of the base of Victoria Falls. The Dam is also well worth a visit with its plunging drop into the gorge on one side and its breathtaking Lake Kariba on the other. It’s pioneering engineering is as awesome as its surrounding natural beauty. ”
