Holidays in Rodrigues Island are about getting away from it all. This tiny island rests to the east of Mauritius in the midst of the Indian Ocean. Rodrigues Island boasts a network of coastal paths that offer fabulous trekking opportunities. From the top of Mont Limon you can enjoy a panoramic view of the island. Rodrigues Island feels unspoiled, with a laid-back atmosphere and you’ll notice few other visitors compared with its sister islands in the Mascarenes, Mauritius and Réunion. With almost 50 miles of coastline, finding a secluded spot for a private swim is easy. The restaurants here are delightfully informal and rustic, serving fresh fish and traditional Creole dishes.

Rodrigues Island holidays: space to relax

Take a day trip to the Ile aux Cocos islet; a tiny strip of white sand and palm trees just a short boat ride from Rodrigues. This beautiful place is home to colonies of seabirds, which have made their home here over generations. You can expect to see white tern and lesser noddy among many other species.

On Rodrigues Island’s mainland, we highly recommend that you take a trip to Trou D’Argent. This attractive and isolated beach is set between two cliffs and is only accessible on foot. On the southern coast you can visit the François Leguat Giant Tortoise and Cave Reserve. This special project was set up to protect the island’s unique biodiversity. Here you can observe giant tortoises along with the endangered Rodrigues fruit bat.
