Start your Journey
Arrive in Entebbe
Your guide will welcome you upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport. You will be driven to The Boma Hotel, which is just a short distance away from the airport.
Once you’ve dropped off your bags and had an initial briefing from your guide, you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and explore the area at your own pace. The Boma is set in a leafy tropical garden, making it the perfect place to sit by the pool with a good book and prepare for your upcoming adventures.
Lake Mburo National Park
Set out from your hotel at about 7.30 in the morning for Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy the scenic morning drive, which takes you across the Equator. You will of course get to stop and take a classic photo with one foot in each hemisphere - and check which way the water runs down the plughole.
You will arrive at Lake Mburo by early afternoon. This is a great time to go on a relaxing boat cruise, followed by an evening trail walk with an experienced guide. Keep an eye out for zebras, impalas, elands, buffalos, oribi, waterbuck, leopards and more.
Finally, head back to your accommodation at Mihingo Lodge for a sundowner and a delicious meal. You might even spot some galago (or bush babies) near the lounge.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Your day starts with a scenic two hour game walk among grazing impala and zebra in Lake Mburo. There is a good chance of spotting the rare Rothchild’s giraffe, which was translocated here to help regenerate its population.
You will then be driven to Uganda's renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the much-awaited gorilla trek. Savour the views of the landscape and local villages along the way.
At Bwindi, check in at Buhoma Lodge and relax before heading off for dinner. Enjoy a few hours by the campfire, as local musicians and dancers serenade you with some fantastic live entertainment.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today, you embark on an unforgettable trek to track the gorillas! After breakfast and an informative briefing by your expert ranger, it is time to head into the dense tropical rainforest in search of the gorillas.
The gorillas are an endangered species. Bwindi's conservationists have gone to great lengths to conserve their population, while also allowing people to experience the magic of seeing them up close. You'll have a chance to spend at least an hour observing their natural behaviour and learning about them from your guide before heading back to discuss your experience.
If time permits, you could also get to enjoy a community walk to visit a nearby indigenous village.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - Entebbe
Today, you will be taken to the Kihihi Airstrip for your low-altitude morning flight to Entebbe. Your plane will coast over magnificent landscapes, game reserves and small settlements, giving you a unique view of Uganda's natural beauty. You’re also likely to see the local farmers attending to their fields and children on the way to school.
If there is time, a guide will meet you at Entebbe Airport and accompany you into town to relax, savour the local cuisine and buy souvenirs. You will then be taken to the airport to catch your flight back home, or to your next destination in Africa.
