Our Cape Town and Botswana multi-centre holiday allows you to combine the sophisticated urban cool of Cape Town with the breath taking wildness of Botswana’s Chobe National Park. It’s a brilliant way to see two different sides to Africa.
Your trip begins in Cape Town, South Africa’s oldest city. This grand beauty boasts Victorian-era architecture, great museums and a buzzing bar and restaurant scene. Gorgeous Table Mountain provides a dramatic backdrop to the city, with a cable car offering easy access to the summit. Wander the Victoria & Albert Waterfront, take a trip up to the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap for some authentic Cape Malay cooking or visit the many museums and galleries. Cape Town is located in a beautiful location on the Cape Peninsula, so there’s plenty to see in the countryside around.
From Cape Town you’ll fly to Botswana, where you’ll transfer to your lodge deep in the heart of Chobe National Park. This beautiful wildlife reserve is known for its lush vegetation and amazing biodiversity. You have a good chance of seeing the Big Five here, among countless other animals. Up in the Gubatsaa Hills you can admire rock art painted thousands of years ago. It’s the perfect place to end your African adventure.
From Chobe National Park, fly into the Okavango Delta, where we recommend a further 3 nights at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge. This remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site is the ultimate safari destination. Choose to safari by air, water, or foot, trekking through the Delta on a walking safari to observe amazing wildlife sightings close up. When not on safari, we'd suggest a visit to the neighbouring Nxhoga village for an authentic insight into the Motswana way of life.

Start your Journey
South Africa
Dazzling Cape Town is South Africa’s capital of culture. This cosmopolitan city is consistently voted one of the best cities in the world, and it has so much to offer travellers.
Begin your visit with a cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain where you can gaze out over the landscape. The exciting waterfront district has plenty going on, with cutting edge contemporary art galleries and relaxed cafés offering space to sit and relax.
Robben Island is a must for those inspired by the Nelson Mandela story. Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years incarcerated on this tiny island. Today you can visit the cell that housed him.
Outside the city you can take a tour of Cape Point, once a rite of passage for European sailors on their way to the New World, and Boulders Beach – a charming stretch of white sand with a large penguin colony.
Botswana
Botswana’s Chobe National Park is one of Africa’s best. It’s known for its lush vegetation, which is kept green by a system of waterways and lakes, and is home to a huge number of animals.
You have a high chance of seeing Africa’s Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffaloes), as well as other rare and less well known creatures.
The Gubatsaa Hills are another highlight of holidays in Botswana. They’re home to some incredible rock paintings produced by the local San Bushmen around 1,500 years ago. Some depict the same animals you can see in the park today, like giraffes, elephants and hyena.
After a long day of spotting animals, you can retire to your luxurious tented accommodation right in the midst of the park. As the sun sets below the horizon you can enjoy superb cuisine and a fully stocked bar, as well as swimming pools overlooking the planes and a spa where you can fully unwind.
Botswana
This intimate island retreat accommodates just 12 luxury tented rooms, perfectly positioned to offer unspoiled Botswana vistas, with reassuring privacy.
During your stay at Belmond Eagle Island Lodge, consider a signature helicopter safari and observe remote, inaccessible lakes and islands as well as an abundance of wildlife from the skies.
Alternatively, take to the water for a unique safari experience as you glide silently on a traditional mokoro canoe and explore the shallow clear waters, reaching areas that are inaccessible by boat.
