This half day private tour visits the Provincial History Museum, City Wall and Bell Tower
The Shaanxi History Museum, also known as the Provincial History Museum is located just a short drive from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and tells the story of the Shaanxi Province - known as the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilisation.
Xian city was the capital of thirteen Chinese dynasties stretching over 1100 years, so in some ways the history of the Shaanxi province can be considered a representation of the history of China. The first modern national museum of China, this beautiful museum has been designed to imitate the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. As you explore the museum’s exhibition halls you will find an impressive array of ancient relics and mural paintings.
You will then have the opportunity to take a bicycle tour of the City Wall. Built originally in Tang Dynasty, the wall was enlarged during the Ming Dynasty and is the most complete city wall that has survived in China.
End your tour with a visit to the Bell Tower. This traditional stately building marks the geographical centre of the ancient capital of Xi’an and was built under the order of the 1st emperor of the Ming Dynasty in 1348.
This excursion departs Tuesday to Sunday and is based on a minimum of 2 passengers.
