Dubai
Dubai is a city of superlatives. It’s home to the most luxurious hotels, the tallest skyscrapers and the largest malls. You can try everything from champagne brunches and rooftop cocktail bars overlooking the city to desert treks to immerse yourselves in the area’s history.
Spend your days enjoying as many or as few activities as you like. Head out on a boat trip or take to the water with sailing, sea kayaking, banana boat rides and water skiing. Visit the aquarium and marvel as sharks swim above you, or head to Wild Wadi Waterpark with the kids. There are some incredible malls packed full of designer labels, as well as the spice and gold souks where you can catch a glimpse of the ancient Bedouin culture to be unearthed here.
Active visitors can head into the desert for a day or two of exploring. Ride the dunes on a camel or in a 4x4 as you learn about the history of the area. Head back to the city or stay overnight for some incredible views of the stars as they light the night time sky.
Bali
Bali is a laid back island known for its fascinating culture and opportunities to relax. In the south of the island you’ll find beautiful beaches surrounded by luxury hotels, perfect for an all inclusive break. Head out of your hotel to find sea temples, secluded stretches of sand and some little boutiques selling everything from home ware to swimwear. You can also discover the thousands of varieties of tropical fish that live just beneath the surface. Take to the waters with snorkelling or scuba diving trips, or simply relax on a sea kayaking trip.
If you head to the north of Bali, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to surf, while in the centre is cultural Ubud. This pretty town is surrounded by some spectacular landscapes and is the ideal place to spend a few days getting to know Indonesian culture. Visit art galleries and temples, or hire a bicycle and stop off in the town’s many shops. You can also see the Monkey Forest, which is home to friendly monkeys, fascinating ancient temples and luscious surroundings.
