Land at Rio de Janeiro International Airport and transfer to your hotel. 

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. 

On your first full day in Rio we’ll take the cog train from Cosme Velho Station up through Tijuca Forest to the very top of the Corcovado Mountain. Built between 1922 and 1931, this art deco icon soars above the city. 

Later that morning we’ll take the cable car to Sugar Loaf Mountain for another incredible panorama. From here we’ll visit the downtown area, where you can take in the Candeleria Church and the National Library before lunch at Confeitaria Colombo – one of the oldest restaurants in Rio. 

We end the day with a tour of the Sambadrome, the vast stadium where the city’s iconic carnival is held. 

You’ll have the evening to take a walk along Copacabana Beach and explore the city’s lively bar and restaurant scene.

You’ll have the whole day to yourself. That might mean relaxing by the pool, exploring the local neighbourhood or spending a day at the beach. 

For an extra fee you have the option of a visit to Petrópolis. This city in the mountains to the north was originally built as a summer retreat for the Portuguese colonial rulers. It boasts some beautiful architecture and an intriguing history. 

Within Rio de Janeiro you can take a tour around the Olympic Boulevard and the Museum of Tomorrow, which is housed within a ground breaking neo-futurist building. 

In the evening you can enjoy Rio by Night, which brings together Brazil’s indigenous heritage and carnival culture in one breath taking show.

This morning you’ll transfer to the airport to fly to the city of Iguazu in the far south, on the border with Argentina. Here, deep in a sub-tropical rainforest, lurks the breath taking Iguazu Falls. This enormous horseshoe shaped canyon divides the upper and lower sections of the Iguazu River. 

You’ll wander along the river, following jungle pathways, before arriving at a walkway into the centre of the Devil’s Throat. 

After a day spent marvelling at this impressive natural wonder, you’ll return to your hotel.

On your second day in Iguazu we’ll cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge to the Argentinian side of the falls. Here you can explore the upper circuit of the river before taking a tourist train down to a catwalk right on the edge of Devil’s Throat. The sound and the spray are an unforgettably visceral experience. 

In the late afternoon you’ll return to your hotel.

Transfer from your hotel to Iguazu airport and fly to Salvador da Bahia. 

This fascinating city is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was once the Portuguese colonial capital of Brazil and is home to one of the largest baroque centres of any city outside Europe. Its distinct Afro-Brazilian culture means you can expect impromptu carnivals, colourful street art and friendly locals. 

Today we’ll enjoy an intriguing tour of Salvador da Bahia, taking in its long history and gorgeous architecture. Beginning in Barra, a modern beachside neighbourhood, you’ll view the 17th century Farol de Barra lighthouse before moving on to the exquisite rows of Portuguese colonial houses in the Corredor da Vitória and the majestic Municipal Square. Pelourinho, with its old world glamour, is among the city’s most attractive districts. 

After an afternoon of exploring you can spend the evening in one of Salvador da Bahia’s many fine restaurants, enjoying sundowners with a view over the sea.

After breakfast, transfer to Salvador da Bahia airport for your return flight.
