This extensive wildlife safari gives you time to explore a wide range of habitats in search of Uganda’s best known inhabitants including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, The Big Five and over 1,000 bird species. Also providing you with the chance to encounter lesser known creatures like bush babies, other nocturnal animals and the much-prized Ankole long-horn cattle. You will also visit some of Uganda’s successful conservation projects such as the rhino sanctuary, all this by vehicle, on foot and by boat to giving you the best all round experience. This safari doesn’t just offer wildlife though, there are also opportunities to meet the friendly local people of Uganda and gain an insight into their culture and day to day life.

Day 1

Entebbe to Kampala

2 nights

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will accompany you throughout this safari and transfer to your hotel in Kampala, this journey should take around one hour traffic permitting . The rest of the day is at leisure and an evening meal will be available in the hotel up to 10.00pm.

Day 2

Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

2 nights

An early start today takes you to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (approx. three hours) where you will go on a private guided nature walk including rhino tracking with a chance to see the rhino at very close range. Enjoy lunch before continuing to Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest national park (approx. three hours). Upon arrival check into your lodge then take a sunset cruise on the River Nile for dinner back at your lodge.

Day 3

Murchison Falls National Park

1 night

Start your day by taking the first ferry at  07.00am  to the northern sector of the park for a game drive, at this time the animals are most active. With the best chance to see lot of game keep your eyes peeled for lion, elephant, buffalo, hartebeest, antelope and tropical birds.  After lunch at your lodge, drive to the top of the Murchison Falls to see ‘the most powerful falls in the world’ and then hike down to the river (approx. 45 mins)  enjoying the views along the way, finally then board a boat for a cruise back to the lodge for the remainder for the afternoon before dinner.

Day 4

Murchison Falls National Park to Kabwoya wildlife reserve

2 night

Travel to Kabwoya wildlife reserve up the stunning Albertine Rift Valley escarpment (approx. three and a half hours). On arrival at your lodge settle in and take some time to relax, later depart for an evening game drive looking for wildlife and savannah birds, along the way stop to enjoy a sunset bush dinner in the wilderness – a perfect African way to end your day.

Day 5

Kabwoya wildlife reserve to Kibale

2 nights

Kibale is your destination today travelling through Hoima, a town fast developing due to the discovery of oil. Enjoy amazing scenery, interesting villages and plenty of birdlife, arrive at your beautiful lodge with stunning views over the crater lakes and across to the Rwenzori mountains. Relax at the lodge or feel free to choose any of the activities on offer. Dinner this evening is at your lodge.

Day 6

Kibale and Chimpanzee tracking

2 nights

Kibale forest boasts of the highest number of primate species in the world, your ranger for today's tracking will conduct a briefing at 07.30am and then take you into the forest to try and located the chimpanzees. Once you find them you will spend an hour with them, watching their daily activities and behaviour. In the afternoon, explore Bigodi Swamp, a community initiative to protect the environment and wildlife, the swamp is home to a number of monkey species, plants and birds. Return to your lodge for dinner this evening.

Day 7

Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

2 nights

Drive through the crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 2 hours), stopping en route at places of interest like the founders making bronze sculptures or at scenic spots along the way. Relax at the lodge and later visit Katwe salt lake to learn how local people are using ancient salt mining techniques to make a living today.

Day 8

Queen Elizabeth National Park

At 06.30am head out for a dawn game drive, the park has prolific game including Uganda Kob, lions, elephant, buffalo and don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for the elusive leopard. Relax and enjoy your lunch then take an afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel, known for its high concentration of hippo and crocodile in the water and along the banks expect to see buffalo, elephant and a range of beautiful birds as well.

Day 9

Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Drive further south in Queen Elizabeth National Park to the Ishasha sector, home to the famous tree-climbing lions, a real phenomenon compared with other big cats you may have encountered in Africa before. After lunch, continue through the lush green countryside to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this park is home to the mountain gorillas, 113 mammal species and 360 bird species. Relax for the evening at your lodge with dinner included.

Day 10

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The highlight of your tour has arrived. After breakfast prepare yourself for an encounter with some of Bwindi’s gentle giants, the endangered Mountain Gorilla. After a short briefing at the park headquarters, your ranger will lead you through the tropical rainforest in search of your gorilla family. Once your allocated family has been located stay with them for one hour, observing their behaviour in their natural habitat. This is a truly magically and unique moment as everyone's experience is different. If time allows this evening take a community walk to meet some local people.

Day 11

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast start your journey to Lake Mburo National Park, the park offers the only chance of seeing the zebra, eland and impala on this itinerary. Stop at Igongo Cultural Centre on the way for a local lunch and then continue into the park which is one and a half hours on from here. Enjoy an evening game drive exploring many areas of the park in search of the resident wildlife. Dinner is served at your lodge.

Day 12

Lake Mburo National Park

Start your day with a two-hour private guided nature walk among animals such as impala and zebra, keep a look-out for the newly introduced Rothschild’s giraffe. In the afternoon visit the Enyemebwa Centre, a community initiative to conserve Bahima culture. Here you will be able to visit the calves, walk in the bush, talk to the cattle-keepers and learn about the wooden milk pots and how milk is traditionally processed into products like ghee. Dinner at back at your lodge this evening.

Day 13

Lake Mburo National Park to Kampala

Transfer to Masaka (approx. three hours) and spend time with the local community who produce bark cloth. Participate as the bark is stripped from the tree and processed and learn about its cultural, artistic and ceremonial uses. After lunch travel to Kampala with a stop at the equator to stretch your legs and for photo opportunities not forgetting that iconic picture of yourself with a foot in each hemisphere and to check if water goes down the plug hole clockwise or anticlockwise in the north and south. Some light refreshments and souvenirs are also available here. Arrive at your lodge the rest of the evening is at leisure with dinner included.

Day 14

Kampala to Entebbe

Following on from your bark cloth experience, visit one of Kampala’s art galleries to see art made using bark cloth and other materials. Enjoy lunch from one of Kampala’s cool restaurants and then travel to Entebbe where you can relax or explore the craft markets for souvenir shopping. Your guide will take you to the airport in time for your flight home.
