Top Tips from our Experts

Why choose Hayes & Jarvis for… Sailing Holidays?

We organise luxury sailing holidays on the world’s most exotic waters. With the ability to tailor-make every element of your trip, we combine sailing expeditions with on-land adventures and stays at boutique island resorts. Family-friendly yachts mean these are adventures the kids can enjoy too. We have a range of luxury catamarans and yachts to choose from, with on-board snorkelling and diving equipment, chef-designed menus and expert skippers. We can create an entirely bespoke sailing holiday for you – including any stops or sights you want to see along the way. No experience is required on our crewed yacht holidays, with qualified crew members onboard to ensure you have a stress-free journey. If you do want to learn a little sailing, crew members will be more than happy to get you involved!

Choose your yacht

5800 Yacht (Crewed)

Ideal for small groups or large families and sleeping up to 10 people, the 5800 yacht is part of the flagship Catamaran fleet and provides prime space for everyone. Decorated in soft neutral tones and fully air-conditioned, the yacht offers phenomenal space with bright and airy cabins, skylight windows for maximum light and even mod-cons such as a flat-screen TV and Wi-Fi.

Enjoy a spot of breakfast and relax in the saloon that boasts comfy seating and great views to the outside world or dine al fresco in the cockpit. The yacht has two VIP cabins that are located on the main deck that also offer direct access to the saloon and gallery, with the remaining four guest cabins situated on the lower deck, each with its own en-suite bathroom.

Outdoor space on the 5800 is impressive; upstairs you’ll find the flybridge, offering unobstructed views of the water and landscape around you as well as plush sofas, a wet bar and built-in BBQ. Downstairs, the large outdoor cockpit offers plenty of space for group entertaining, while the forward lounge offers another decked area for more intimate al-fresco dining fronted by two trampolines; the perfect spot for some daytime sunbathing with a cocktail in hand.

For those wanting to take advantage of the cooling sea water, 5800 comes complete with watersports essentials including snorkelling equipment, a two-person ocean kayak, two stand up paddleboards and water skis. There’s even a motorised dinghy available that is designed to whisk you off to the mainland should you decide to anchor for the evening outside of a marina or fancy a spot of independent exploring.

4800 Yacht (Crewed)

Sleeping a maximum of six people for up to a week’s charter, the 4800 yacht boasts four luxurious guest cabins, each with en-suite bathrooms, and is ideal for a family gathering or holiday with friends. This award-winning yacht is the definition of luxury at sea and comes complete with an experienced skipper and chef on board.

With light, modern interior décor and a spacious communal saloon, it’s the outdoor facilities of this boat that truly sells it. To the rear of the yacht, you’ll find a large cockpit that provides a covered outside seating space with a built-in table and wraparound chairs, perfect for a spot of breakfast as you gaze out to sea. To the front, you can enjoy the forward lounge that boasts a sofa and additional table made for two, along with one large trampoline that serves as the ideal place to soak up some tropical rays and enjoy the spectacular views.

If you fancy venturing to shore, perhaps for an evening meal or to explore the islands, you’ll find a motorised dinghy beneath the cockpit to take you to dry land. For the activity junkies, the 4800 yacht comes complete with watersports equipment including snorkels, kayaks and paddleboards.

If it’s boundless adventure and at-sea paradise you’re after, this yacht will not disappoint.

4000 (Skipper only)

Set sail on an unforgettable holiday on the 4000; made with honeymooners and those seeking a little romance in mind. With three cabins available (one of which is used by the crew), this contemporary catamaran offers a more intimate experience, making it perfect for newlyweds or couples looking for a slice of adventure.

The modern interior includes a spacious saloon, oversized glass doors that offer panoramic views and a fully equipped galley. While the yacht doesn’t come with an onboard chef, you can organise inclusive provisions before you board with our pre-bookable shopping lists. Or, why not go with the wind and moor up to explore the various bars and restaurants at your next stopping point? Our skippers know each destination extremely well so will be able to offer some great recommendations and top tips on where to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a few drinks.

The 4000 has fantastic outdoor facilities, meaning you can soak up the warm sunshine and amazing views in comfort. The trampoline offers the perfect place to sip a cocktail and enjoy the sunshine, while the cockpit’s al-fresco dining area is perfect for a spot of breakfast or lunch. Take a dip in the sea before jumping in the on-board dinghy to float ashore and explore the ocean at your own pace.

Romantic honeymoons and once-in-a-lifetime escapes don’t get much better than this.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need sailing experience to charter a boat?

No, all of our sailing charters come complete with fully qualified crew members so you can sit back and enjoy the ride. If you want to learn a little sailing while you’re there, your on board crew members can help you to get involved in the experience. This really is a bespoke cruise according to your own requirements and preferences.

What type of clothing should we pack?

Simplicity is key. Casual and breezy beach attire is certainly the order of the day on deck, though for evenings ashore, chinos or a sundress are appropriate. Rubber soled shoes as opposed to hard soles are recommended aboard our yachts, so wear boat shoes or tennis shoes. You may find aquatic shoes convenient for beachcombing. Above all, protection from the sun is vital – lots of sun cream, wide-brimmed hats or sailing caps and loose-fitting cotton cover-ups. For cool or windy evenings, a windbreaker comes in handy.

Where do we board our yacht?

You will board the yacht at one of The Moorings’ marinas (or one of their partner marinas) in the location you have chosen. Call one of our Travel Consultants who will be happy to assist with your transportation to and from the marina as well as pre or post hotels to build your dream holiday itinerary.

What time can we board?

You can board your yacht following your charter briefing and boat orientation. For most locations, you can board your yacht at 12 pm on the day the charter starts. Charters in the Seychelles board at 10 am. Charters end at noon on the day the charter ends. You can also make arrangements for an evening start with your Trip Coordinator if your flight is arriving late in the day.

Are there docking and mooring fees?

Yes, depending on your destination you can expect to pay nightly mooring or docking fees. Moorings can also vary greatly. They can be upwards of 60 US Dollars depending on the location. All charges are payable locally. Please call one of our Travel Consultant for more information.

With regards to Seychelles, there are landing and visitor fees. The amount per person/per cruise for one week is approximately EURO 100.

Will I be able to make and receive telephone calls?

This depends on your mobile phone carrier and your destination. You can rent a phone, with pre-programmed phone numbers for everything that you may need during your charter, which can be used with a pre-paid calling card. Or you can make arrangements with your network provider prior to your trip to activate an international calling plan that will allow you to use your phone in international waters without roaming charges. However, if you venture too far from land, you subsequently venture out of network range. All of our yachts have a VHF (ship-to-shore) radio aboard for constant ship-to-shore communication.

Who decides the sailing itinerary?

We can provide sample itineraries that highlight our recommended sailing route and stop offs. If there are places you would like to see that aren’t on the itinerary then let us know and we will create your own bespoke itinerary prior to departure. Alternatively, you can also sit down with the captain in resort when you board your yacht and develop an itinerary – or you can leave it all up to your crew and simply go with the wind. Weather permitting, the itinerary can be changed at any time if you wish to spend more or less time in any area. This is truly a private yacht at your command.

Will I be able to order special diet menus or request favourite beverages?

Yes, provisions services are according to you and your preference. For all 4800 and 5800 charters, full meals and drinks are included. You will be contacted prior to your charter so you can ask for any special requirements or specific meals; whatever your heart desires, the crew will do their utmost to make it happen. With the 4000 charters, you can pre-request on board supplies via the provisions form. Alternatively, there are upgrade meal/board options available at an additional charge. If you would like to request items that are not in the order forms or if you have special dietary restrictions, please call our expert Travel Consultants who will be happy to assist you.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! These yachts offer a fantastic family holiday experience with amenities on board to accommodate all ages. On our crewed charters, the crew will provide guidance in using the snorkelling gear, kayaks and other watersports equipment and are experienced in serving families with children. The chef will also design a menu to accommodate the preferences of both children and adults.

What should we tip our crew?

The quality of service should dictate the gratuity. As a guideline, we suggest an average of 10-15 percent of the total charter cost.

Will I feel much movement on board? Will I require sea sickness tablets?

Cruising areas are chosen for their generally calm conditions and scenic vistas. Our catamarans are stable by nature due to the second hull. Of course the weather is out of our control, so we do recommend you take sea sickness tables with you.

Do I need additional insurance for a sailing holiday?

You’ll need to check what’s covered with your travel insurance provider, as you may need to add on additional sports or watersports cover, or book dedicated sailing insurance with a specialist provider. If in doubt, talk to our Travel Consultants.
