San Jose
On arrival our local representative will receive and assist you at the Airport. You will then have a transfer from Juan Santamaría International Airport to your hotel in San José.
Puerto Viejo
After breakfast and checking out you will depart to your next destination, Puerto Viejo, a laid back paradise located in the South Caribbean Coast.
Once you have arrived the rest of the day is at leisure to explore.
Puerto Viejo
This morning it time to explore Cahuita National Park. Cahuita has to be one of the most amazing parks in the country. It was created in 1970 as a National Monument to preserve the coral reefs off the Caribbean Coast. Its main attractions are the white sand beaches fringed with endless trees, a sea of transparent waters and the coral reefs just offshore. Some of the brightest and most colorful birds in the world can be seen in the national park, for example, green ibises, keel-billed toucans and herons. Flora is unsurpassed, from orchids to mushrooms, there are thousands of species of plants. Enjoy a walk of approximately 7 km along the path of the national park. Entering the park through the sector of Playa Blanca and taking the trail to Punta Cahuita, the tour will be a journey of beautiful beaches where you can swim in the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea and observe various types of wildlife.

Sarapiqui
After checking out you will depart to your next destination, the green and lush Sarapiquí. This is a well known region for its amazing and rich biodiversity as well as for being a nature lover’s dream destination.
Once in Sarapiquí enjoy a truly surprisingly interesting experience! A fascinating tour of ants which allows you to enjoy in a very different and unique way, the wonderful process of these insects. You can see up close on this tour how the ants cut the leaves with their jaws and move to the colony. There we will discover how they cultivate the fungus and surprisingly know the queen live, and the caste division and its functions of these important insects. Rest of the day at leisure to immerse with natural surroundings and relax at the hotel.
Cano Negro
Before leaving Sarapiquí, you will have one last adventure here! Open the secrets and wonders of one of mankind’s favorite foods, chocolate. Originally from Central America, this plant has an extraordinary history as it was one of the most important products for the Mayan and Aztec cultures. Learn about the artisanal process by which cacao fruit is transformed into chocolate (harvest, fermentation, drying, etc.) while the story of pre- and post colonial chocolate is told and of course, you will delight you taste with the glorious chocolate. Afterwards, transfer to your next destination, Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy natural surroundings.
Cano Negro
During the morning, discover the biodiverse environments with a walk through the community of Caño Negro. At the dock, board the boat and begin the tour on the Frio River and lagoons where you will experience stunning landscapes, abounding with wildlife and you will get a glimpse of the daily life of people living near the wetland. Your guide will point out the many natural and cultural riches of Caño Negro. You will be impressed with the variety of flora and fauna that can be seen inside this refuge which is home to more than 350 species of birds, 310 plants and at least 160 species of mammals.
In the afternoon, the tropical forests secrets await for you to be uncovered! Enjoy a walk on the trails and recharge yourself with the energy that only a forest can provide. The forests of Caño Negro are a unique domain teaming with life where monkeys swing among the trees, birds of many sizes fly stealthily among the vegetation and even the smallest of nature’s treasures represents millions of years of evolution.
Rio Celeste
Today you will head to Bijagua, home of the enchanting Rio Celeste National Park. This region is a virgin rainforest and a sanctuary to tropical animal species like pumas, tapirs, sloths, anteaters, coatis, giant butterflies and rare plant species, like the wild orchids.
Rio Celeste
Today, discover the beautiful Rio Celeste. A legend tells that after God was done painting the sky, he washed his brushes in the river that now bears the name of Rio Celeste (Light Blue River). During a hike through this humid forest ecosystem, with you will have the chance to observe various animal species and exuberant flora surrounding you. Along the walk, discover the magnificent Rio Celeste waterfall, and also the place where the river dyes itself into that amazing light blue coloration.

Rincon de la Vieja
At the agreed time, depart to your next destination, Rincón de la Vieja, one of the most beautiful countryside and ecological diverse in Guanacaste province. At over 34,000 acres, Rincón de la Vieja has room for two volcanoes, 32 rivers and streams, and an incredible variety of flora and fauna.
The rest of the day is at your leisure, we suggest you experience the incredible hot springs at Rio Negro. Beautiful and relaxing, the volcanic hot springs bubble up in the Rio Negro (“Black River”), heated naturally by the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and surrounded by thick forest.
Rincon de Vieja
