Frequently Asked Questions
What are the beaches like in the Gili Islands?
Gili Island beaches are renowned for their beauty, swaying coconut palms, and spectacular sunsets. Gili Meno beaches have a romantic and remote feel while Gili Air has both lively and serene beaches. Gili Trawangan beaches are generally more developed with bars, surf schools, and beach parties. Due to the abundance of coral around the Gili Islands some beaches may be a little sharp so a pair of sea shoes is recommended.
How do I get to the Gili Islands from mainland Indonesia?
The quickest way to get to the Gili Islands is from Lombok with a fast boat service operating from Teluk Kodek harbour to Gili Trawangan and Gili Air, taking around 15 minutes. You can also get a fast boat to the Gili Islands from Bali which takes around two hours. The fast boat departs from both Serangan harbour in Bali (most convenient for the beach resorts on the south of the island) and from Padang Bai harbour (most convenient for the resorts of Ubud and Candidasa).
