Things To Do In Singapore

There is no question too small. Start planning your dream trip by talking to our Destination Specialists

4. Live it up in Clarke Quay

The central party hub of Singapore, Clarke Quay, reveals itself as the sun goes down. Home to the most prominent nightclubs, concept bars and chic restaurants, Clarke Quay, is the place to go to experience Singapore’s buzzing night scene.

With gorgeous riverside views and a range of cuisines to pick from, a night out in Clarke Quay is one of the best things to do in Singapore. During the day, browse through the shops at Central Clarke Quay, stroll along the Singapore River or hop on a delightful cruise.

5. Revel in the city’s green spaces

While the initial image of Singapore might be that of a highly efficient and developed country (which is true) with skyscrapers and concrete structures, travellers quickly realise how delightfully verdant Singapore is. The Southern Ridges is a 10-km long trail that connects some of Singapore’s most charming parks and offers a forest-like experience right in the middle of the city.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to among the most extensive collections of orchids in the world and provides a conducive space for relaxing and playing. Explore the city to find little and big green spaces that allow you to refresh and recharge.

6. Explore Gardens by the Bay

The star attraction at the Gardens by the Bay are the Super Trees, super-sized giant trees that support vertical gardens. Walk down the 128-metre-long and 22-metre-high OCBC Skywalk that takes you up close to the gigantic structures and affords fabulous views of the Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer.

The best time to see these larger-than-life creations are during the night when they are lit up, and the light show comes on. Spend time at the Flower Dome, which holds flora from the far corners of the world and enjoy a quick tropical getaway at the Cloud Forest. The Cloud Walk and Treetop Walk give you opportunities to enjoy this green wonderland. Stroll around the park and spot its many delightful sculptures. Exploring its many attractions might take the better part of a day but it is truly one of the top things to do in Singapore.

7. Shop at Orchard Road

Upscale malls, designer outlets and the presence of the best brands in the world make shopping at Orchard Road one of the most sought after things to do in Singapore, especially for those looking for retail therapy.

Grab lunch at one of the many trendy restaurants in the area, or rest your legs at a hip coffeehouse before continuing your shopping spree. Within walking distance of Orchard Road is Fort Canning Park, a great green space that offers respite from the crowds. The colourful Emerald Hill with its charming Baroque and Art Deco style houses and trendy bars is also worth a visit.

8. Experience Singapore from the water

Going on a bumboat cruise is one of the most popular tourist things to do in Singapore, but it is well worth it. These repurposed boats that were once used to ferry goods are quintessentially Singapore.

With multiple points to hop in and off, it is truly one of the best ways to experience the city. The tour has an audio commentary that allows you to understand and appreciate this city state’s journey over the decades. Daytime tours are great for spotting Singapore’s most famous landmarks from the water. However, nighttime tours are fabulous for appreciating Singapore’s stunning skyline.

9. Indulge in wholesome family fun

Singapore offers plenty of things to see and do for the young and the young at heart. The Singapore Zoo offers engaging animal encounters; watch kids turn zookeepers for a day, feed elephants and giraffes and click pictures with your favourite animals.

Head out on a thrilling Night Safari, one of the most popular things to do in Singapore and spot tigers and leopards. Get up close with some colourful feathered friends at Jurong Bird Park and be awed by its fabulous bird shows. The ArtScience Museum, with its interactive exhibits and creative installations, is a great place to ignite your passion for science.

10. Immerse in the culture of China Town and Little India

One of the best aspects of Singapore is how harmoniously people from different cultures live peacefully side by side. The city-state has four official languages, reflective of its multi-ethnic populations. Singapore’s China Town is perpetually bustling with activity. The Maxwell Food Centre and the Chinatown Complex are the best places to sample incredibly tasty street fare. For a more upscale experience, try out the hip bars and restaurants at Keong Saik Road.

Little India, which caters to the needs of Singapore’s growing Indian diaspora, is, perhaps, among the city’s most colourful neighbourhoods. Visit Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and the Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple here before heading to the restaurants that serve flavourful Indian dishes.
