Houmas House is perhaps the most impressive of the plantation houses built alongside the rolling Mississippi River and now offers beautiful cottage accommodation in the grounds of the plantation itself. Dating from 1840, the stunning antebellum ‘Big House’ is the main feature of the estate and is open on specific dates for atmospheric tours. The rest of the time guests can explore the beautiful grounds, watch the ceaseless Mississippi or enjoy a meal at the exciting venues across the site. At the end of the day, guests can retire to their authentically decorated cottage to enjoy modern amenities and plenty of Old South charm.
