Overlooking the famous Mount Agung, around an hour from busy Ubud, is a valley covered in jungle and rice paddies, where the river Unda meanders through the valley bottom. Sideman is one of the most beautiful places on the island of Bali – a hidden gem just waiting to be explored, and it is here you will find the charming boutique property – Wapa di Ume.
There are just 21 rooms and villas – all furnished to complement the tropical surroundings. Most of the staff are from the nearby villages, and are always so pleased to have you stay, this is evident from their smiles and warm welcome.
Being in such a remote location, the only sounds you can hear all day long are birds, crickets, geckos and the river – when the frogs join in at night time, you have the perfect lullaby. Even though the location is quiet – there are no shortage of activities. There are guided walks to in the fields, along the river and into the hills or take a mountain bike out if you wish to go a little further. Indulge in some spa time or join one of the daily yoga classes in the purpose built yoga pavilion. Take to the river for rafting or tubing, or learn a new skill with a Balinese cooking class – to mention just afew.
